From Evidence to Practice: Discussing Complement Inhibitor Therapy with Patients with GA
Saturday 7 November, 12.45pm – 1.05pm
Education Hub towards the back of the exhibition hall.
Geographic atrophy (GA) has moved from an untreatable condition to one with two TGA-approved complement-inhibitor therapies to slow disease progression — pegcetacoplan (Syfovre) and avacincaptad pegol (Izervay) — giving clinicians new options but also new complexity in patient conversations.
Professor Robyn Guymer and Adjunct Professor Hemal Mehta draw on their long-term clinical experience with Syfovre and Izervay — including as investigators on the pivotal trials — to translate the trial evidence into a realistic, shared decision-making conversation in the consulting room.

The ANTERION in anterior segment practice: applications, evidence and clinic workflow
Sunday 8 November, 12.20pm – 12.40pm
Education Hub towards the back of the exhibition hall.
Speaker: Associate Professor James McKelvie
The ANTERION is a swept-source OCT platform that combines biometry with anterior segment tomography. This talk covers its practical applications across the anterior segment, including cataract and IOL planning, total keratometry and toric planning, lens and IOL position, keratoconus, ICL sizing, CAIRS, corneal graft and surgical imaging, and ocular surface lesions such as OSSN and pterygium. Recent studies comparing the ANTERION with the IOLMaster 700 and the Galilei G6, and examining the effect of pupil dilation on IOL calculations, are summarised. The talk concludes with a description of how the ANTERION has been integrated into clinic workflow using AI-assisted review, a DICOM viewer, IOL.con and the ESCRS calculator.
