RANZCO Global Eye Health Workshop – Auckland 2026
Uveitis in Low Resource Communities: Practical Approaches, Partnerships and Impact
5–6 November 2026 | Auckland, New Zealand
This two-day workshop brings together ophthalmologists, global eye health practitioners, and Pacific health leaders to address the practical challenges of uveitis management in low-resource settings across the Asia-Pacific region.
The programme opens on 5 November with a hands-on Glaucoma Wetlab at Auckland University, covering trabeculectomy techniques, tube surgery, and complication management in resource-limited environments.
The main workshop on 6 November features expert didactic talks on uveitis diagnosis and treatment, real-world case presentations from Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Timor-Leste, Mongolia, Indonesia, and Cambodia, and a dedicated session with the Fred Hollows Foundation New Zealand on Pacific workforce development and programme delivery. The day concludes with a public session showcasing regional partnerships and future directions.
Co-chaired by Prof. Nitin Verma and Prof. Mark Radford, the workshop draws on expertise from leading centres including Sydney Eye Hospital and L V Prasad Eye Institute, alongside voices from the Pacific communities most affected by preventable blindness.
